Job summary

Intact FC in Canada seeks an ExpertForensicEngineer, Fire and Explosion to support the Claims Department. You will determine causes of fires, validate scenarios with science, and prepare reports while potentially testifying in court.

The role requires deep knowledge of building construction, fire propagation, and diagnostic methods, coupled with strong communication. A licensed engineer with 10+ years of experience is preferred, in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Over 10 years of relevant experience as a forensic engineer investigating the origin and causes of fires.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or relevant applied sciences with at least five years of experience.
• Licensure with a provincial Engineering Association, or eligibility for licensure.

Responsibilities

• Investigate loss sites to determine the cause and circumstances of fires.
• Recreate the sequence of events leading to the loss and validate with current scientific knowledge.
• Prepare short and detailed reports for claims and potentially testify in court.
• Collaborate with internal/external adjusters, appraisers and file handlers on claims.
• Record and manage storage of specimens related to files.
