Job summary

The Town of Qualicum Beach is seeking a skilled Mechanic/Trades III in the Public Works department on a permanent full-time basis. Reporting to the Foreperson, you will maintain and repair municipal vehicles and equipment, both in the shop and in the field, across a wide range of automotive and heavy equipment.

Requirements include Grade 12, a valid Class 3 BC Driver’s License with Air Endorsement, at least five years of relevant experience, Air Brake Repair and CVI certification, welding

Qualifications

• Completion of grade 12 or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate effectively, especially with the public.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team and independently.

Responsibilities

• Performing scheduled servicing, preventive maintenance and repairs on town vehicles and equipment.
• Inspecting and diagnosing mechanical/electrical issues and taking corrective action.
• Maintaining safety practices and performing inspections.
• Welding and fabrication tasks as required.
• Operating vehicles and equipment as assigned.
