On behalf of our food manufacturing client, TEEMA is seeking a Senior Fleet Maintenance Manager for our client located in Vancouver, BC.

Working as part of a small team, the Senior Fleet Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing vessel maintenance operations for commercial fishing vessel fleet, including contract execution, compliance with labour, safety, environmental, and corporate policies and regulations.
The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the Company’s vessel fleets are ready and safe to operate during the fishing and charter seasons. Key deliverables include: liaising with regulatory bodies, vessel management, coordinating maintenance, implementing best practices to enhance operational efficiency, and staying current with industry regulations and trends.
This role requires a dynamic individual with strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with the team, develop and implement effective fleet management strategies to ensure vessels are ready for all fishing opportunities.
  • Oversee and ensure accurate and timely preventative maintenance work for the fleet is scheduled and completed.
  • Provide support services to Managers and Skippers on the fishing grounds, including emergency vessel repairs.
  • Develop operational and capital expenditure budgets for company vessels.
  • Track the repair and maintenance costs; prepare monthly vessel reports for senior management.
  • Analyze maintenance costs and provide recommendations on optimal fleet utilization and replacement.
  • Ensure all Company vessels comply with Federal and Provincial legislation, including Transport Canada and Work Safe BC rules and regulations.
  • Follow up on all insurance claims for the fleet and assist with vessel sales as needed.
  • Promote a safety culture within the department and ensure all safety policies/procedures are followed.
  • Assist in purchasing new and used equipment and parts. Maintain records for inventory stored at multiple locations.
  • Oversee work being performed by external repair and maintenance contractors.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date vessel maintenance records and logs.
  • Adapt, review, and change department processes and procedures for the better.
  • Requirements:
  • Minimum 8-10 years of related experience in marine maintenance.
  • Strong business knowledge of marine operations, North American transportation regulations, and fleet maintenance planning, processes, and procedures is required.
  • Class 1 Marine Engineer certificate or a Degree in Marine Engineering or equivalent is an asset, but not required.
  • Project management experience/certification is an asset.
  • Strong technical knowledge and mechanical aptitude are required.
  • Sound judgment, hands-on approach to problem solving, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to effectively respond to complex and ever-changing business needs.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong financial and business acumen.
  • Strong English language skills, both verbal and written, suitable for a multi-cultural working environment.

Annual Salary: $115,000 – $150,000, commensurate with education, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience
Office Hours: 8 am – 4.30 pm; Onsite, flexible start and end time
Annual Vacation: 4 weeks
