Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. seeks a self-motivated firmware engineer to contribute to the design, development, unit testing, and verification of Switchtec PCIe switching products. You will collaborate across sites in an agile environment, contributing to pre-silicon and post-silicon bring-up.

Requirements include 15+ years in embedded software, strong C and assembly skills, and deep SoC/RTOS expertise. Travel up to 25% may be required; base salary ranges with competitive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• At least 15 years of Embedded Application Software or high-level Embedded Software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in C and at least one assembly language programming.
• Expert in SoC, RTOS, multi-threading, and SMP firmware development.
• Experience in high-speed protocol product development: PCIe, CXL, InfiniBand, SAS/SATA, NVMe, Ethernet or FC.
• Experience in firmware design for silicon products across pre-silicon and post-silicon bring-up.

Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements and design, develop, and verify firmware and software components.
• Lead and participate in architecture, design, and implementation reviews with cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with firmware, chip design, emulation, validation, and applications teams on pre-silicon and post-silicon efforts.
• Investigate and resolve issues reported by customers or in lab environments.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and customer-facing materials.
• Mentor junior firmware engineers through reviews and process improvements.
