The Ontario Fire Department's Fire Prevention Bureau is searching for a qualified individual interested in furthering their career in the field of fire prevention / fire safety as a Senior Fire Safety Specialist. The Senior Fire Safety Specialist position performs inspection and enforcement work on commercial, industrial, residential, state-regulated and public assembly buildings to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local codes and regulations governing fire and life safety. In addition, the Senior Fire Safety Specialist is responsible for independently resolving issues of advanced complexity, assisting Fire Safety Specialists with large and complex projects, and may act as project manager for small, less complex projects.

The ideal candidate for the Senior Fire Safety Specialist position will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, thrive in a fast-paced work environment, and demonstrate a passion for collaborating on largescale development projects. Ontario Fire Department serves these residents from 11 strategically located fire stations, including the Ontario International Airport fire station, with a daily staffing level of 74 sworn firefighters. The Bureau utilizes various databases in conjunction with other city departments to identify the most hazardous occupancies in the City. Periodic inspections are then conducted to ensure code compliance. The Bureau of Fire Prevention is responsible for developing and implementing programs and policies that prevent or reduce the magnitude of emergency occurrences, such as loss of life and property, or environmental damage.
