Job summary

Community Fire Prevention Ltd, a division of Onyx-Fire, is seeking Registered Fire Protection Technicians to join our team full-time in BC. You will lead inspections, maintenance, and service calls on Fire and Life Safety equipment while mentoring junior technicians.

You’ll ensure compliance with BC Fire Code and CAN/ULC standards and maintain accurate documentation. We value people-first service, continuous learning, and strong teamwork.

Qualifications

  • ASTTBC RFPT or CFAA Certified Technician.
  • FX-4000 trained; valid BC Driver’s License required.
  • Strong electrical, electronics and mechanical background.
  • Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Detail-oriented with ability to troubleshoot Life Safety systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead inspections, maintenance, repairs and service calls on Fire and Life Safety equipment.
  • Mentor Junior Fire Protection Technicians.
  • Complete electronic inspection, verification and deficiency reports accurately.
  • Participate in After-Hours Emergency On-Call Rotation.
  • Maintain communication with internal and external contacts about inspections and job status.
  • Stay updated with industry standards and best practices.
  • Remain certified in good standing with ASTTBC and/or CFAA.
  • Provide next-level customer interactions with suppliers and team members.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Community Fire Prevention is looking for Registered Fire Protection Technicians to join our team full-time. Reporting to your assigned Pod Leader, 'The Board', and the Operations Manager, Registered Fire Protection Technicians will lead inspections, maintenance, repairs, and service calls on Fire and Life Safety equipment while mentoring Community Fire’s Junior Fire Protection Technicians.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct Monthly, Quarterly, Semi-Annual, and Annual Fire Inspections in accordance with the 2018 BC Fire Code and all applicable CAN/ULC, NFPA, and CSA standards.
  • Conduct repairs and troubleshooting of Fire and Life Safety equipment in accordance with the 2018 BC Fire Code and all applicable CAN/ULC and CSA standards.
  • Perform required verification of Fire and Life Safety systems and equipment, ensuring all verification activities are completed accurately and in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and manufacturer requirements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of all electronic inspection, verification, and deficiency reports, along with all other relevant documentation.
  • Participate in the After-Hours Emergency On-Call Rotation.
  • Maintain open communication with both internal and external contacts regarding inspections, project delays, deficiencies, and overall job status.
  • Participate in mentoring and coaching Junior Fire Protection Technicians.
  • Commit to continual education and training in order to deliver next-level service to our valued clients.
  • Stay up to date with industry standards, product and service changes, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain certification in good standing with ASTTBC and/or CFAA.
  • Provide a “next-level” experience when interacting with customers, suppliers, contractors, and team members.
  • Adhere to and embrace the company’s Core Values and Occupational Health and Safety protocols.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

  • ASTTBC RFPT or CFAA Certified Technician.
  • FX-4000 trained.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License (Driver’s Abstract required).
  • Strong electrical, electronics, and mechanical background.
  • Ability to accurately assess and troubleshoot various Life Safety systems and provide solution-based details.
  • Detail-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise.
  • Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written) with a positive and friendly attitude.
  • Proven industry success and passion.
