Morrison Hershfield Limited is looking for a Senior Fire Protection Systems Engineer. This role focuses on delivering fire protection systems projects to external clients and internally within MH. The position involves advanced application of fire and life safety principles and Building and Fire Codes to fire protection systems in existing and new buildings. The role requires expert knowledge of fire protection systems, code requirements, design standards, understanding of design and construction issues, and excellent communication skills.

The successful candidate will work in a team environment, collaborate with clients, and act as a technical mentor internal to MH. They will help build MH's reputation in the design and construction industry through local speaking engagements and will contribute to business development efforts. This role is well suited to a self-motivated candidate who is excited to build a team.

Responsibilities
  • Applies fire and life safety principles to the design of new fire protection systems, including detection and suppression and related systems
  • Conducts site audits of fire protection systems performance, as-built conditions, and Code conformance
  • Conducts design reviews, shop drawing reviews, construction site visits, and verifications for various fire protection systems
  • Prepares technical reports and review reports of others
  • Coordinates project teams including fire protection technical resources, contractors, and other technical disciplines for successful project delivery
  • Investigates, advises, and solves unusual design problems
  • Manages projects from proposal preparation through delivery and close-out and serves as primary client contact
  • Develops new business opportunities by building relationships with clients and networking in the fire protection industry
Qualifications
  • Degree in Engineering and Professional Engineering license
  • Minimum of 10 years of fire protection design experience
  • Ability to conduct business development sales is required
  • Strong technical knowledge of fire protection systems design and construction
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and communicate with clients, authorities, and contractors
