Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Canada seeks an Intermediate or Senior Fire Protection Specialist to support projects across the country, including nuclear and critical facilities.

You will lead the design, prepare drawings and technical reports, and mentor junior engineers while engaging clients and regulators.

The role emphasizes collaboration with architectural, structural, mechanical and process teams, requiring clear communication and strong project management.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of fire protection engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Fire Protection Technology.
• P.Eng. or membership with a recognized engineering or technical association is an asset.
• Experience in nuclear fire protection engineering and familiarity with CSA standards (e.g., CSA N293, N393) is an asset.
• Working knowledge of NBCC, NFCC, provincial codes, NFPA, CSA, CAN/ULC; applying NFPA 13, 14, 15, 20, 24 is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of fire suppression and fire alarm systems, including drawings, calculations, specifications, and reports.
• Develop fire protection studies, system narratives, and compliance documentation.
• Participate in field reviews, inspections, on-site testing, and commissioning.
• Coordinate fire protection with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and process teams.
• Represent AtkinsRéalis’ fire protection discipline in discussions with clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
