Position: Senior / Financing Manager – TELP

Employment Type: Permanent

Compensation Details:

  • Underwriter 18: Salaries typically range from $94,664 to $126,219 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.

Location:

  • Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 3 days per week.
  • This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs located in Toronto, Mississauga, Vancouver, Calgary, Halifax, Montreal, Laval, or Brossard.
  • Relocation assistance is available for candidates who meet the eligibility criteria.

Team Overview:

EDC’s Small Business & Partnerships (“SB&P”) group provides financing solutions in support of Canadian exports and foreign investments to:

  • Canadian exporters and their foreign customers;
  • Canadian investors and their foreign affiliates; and
  • Financial institutions.

Within SB&P, the International Financing Guarantees team seeks an enthusiastic finance professional who works well in a team environment, enjoys interacting with colleagues, banks, and clients regularly.

This role involves understanding customer needs, collaborating with EDC’s Business Development, Legal Services, ESG, and external banking partners, and managing the Trade Expansion Lending Program (TELP) with over 1,500 obligors, 9 partner banks, and $1.3 billion in exposure. Recognized skills include quantitative and qualitative analysis, relationship management, communication, and initiative management.

What you will be doing:

  • Managing a portfolio of obligors, agreements, and financial institutions; advising on asset management and monitoring activities related to credit risks; and providing recommendations to management.
  • Identifying and implementing improvements in business practices and contributing to projects within the organization’s change management initiatives.
  • Designing and executing reporting strategies, analyzing patterns and trends, and translating insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with internal clients, acting as a business partner, and managing resources to support business strategies.
  • Coaching team members and completing portfolio management activities involving asset monitoring.
  • Supporting business development with customer service throughout transactions, negotiating transaction terms, and assessing risks.
  • Collaborating on technology platform improvements and supporting program management frameworks.
  • Providing ongoing customer support to ensure satisfaction and understanding financing issues and markets.
  • Drafting and reviewing documents in collaboration with Legal Services.

What we are looking for:

  • Bilingual in French and English.
  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in financial services or relevant fields.

What will make you stand out:

  • Experience in finance and/or IT sectors.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills in both official languages.
  • Knowledge of structuring/restructuring in commercial lending or loan portfolio management.
  • Project management experience and stakeholder collaboration skills.
  • Experience with EDC products, especially the IFG product suite, and skills in analysis, marketing, and program management.

Eligibility:

  • Legal right to work in Canada; Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents preferred.
  • Meet government security screening requirements.
