Job summary

National Bank of Canada is seeking a Financial Planning Expert Advisor for the Business Banking and Private Banking 1859 team in Montreal. You will act as a financial planner and tax specialist, guiding advisors, preparing integrated plans, and presenting recommendations to clients with their legal and tax professionals.

You’ll monitor tax and legal changes, develop financial perspectives, and train diverse audiences.

Qualifications

• Hold a bachelor’s degree in a field related to the activity and a master’s degree in taxation, or specialized qualifications in law, notarial law, actuarial science, or CFA designation.
• Hold the Financial Planner (F.Pl.) designation.
• Have at least 10 years of experience in integrated financial planning and taxation, with recognized expertise.
• Demonstrate strong analytical and recommendation skills addressing complex financial issues.
• Be able to develop relevant financial opinions from tax changes interpretation.
• Proficient with Excel and Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Advise and guide Business Banking and Private Banking 1859 advisors on complex financial planning and taxation matters.
• Analyze complex client situations, prepare projections (retirement projections included), and develop tools to help advisors be more autonomous.
• Prepare integrated financial plans and present analyses and recommendations to clients with advisors and, if needed, their legal and tax professionals.
• Develop and deliver training for targeted audiences inside and outside the Bank; publish articles and information documents; act as a speaker.
• Monitor tax and legal developments; assess impact on clients’ finances and develop perspectives following changes.
• Collaborate with journalists via Public Relations; maintain relationships with internal and external experts; consider reputational risks.
