A Senior Financial Analyst acts as a business partner to the operations team and is responsible for various financial analyses to maximize the profitability of all operations. The analyst must provide timely and precise information to offer the necessary visibility for decision-making, prepare several monthly reports, maintain close collaboration with the operations team, and assist in the budgetary process and monthly variance reporting and forecast modification based on the analysis and discussions with different business partners.

Job description

Monthly Analysis and Reports:

  • Administer the monthly reporting cycle for the Operations group and coordinate monthly meetings to review financial results to fully understand business events and market trends.
  • Prepare monthly analysis of actual results and compare them to forecasts and budgets. Explain discrepancies and make recommendations for corrective actions to be taken.
  • Collaborate with the Operations group team to provide the necessary support for the preparation of financial analyses for the effective management of its activities.
  • Prepare key performance indicators, supporting management and finance teams by providing them with forecasts, budgets, and other required analyses.

Continuous Budget and Financial Forecasting:

  • Participate in the forecasting and budgeting process and lead initiatives to continually improve and automate the tools used.
  • Prepare a detailed budget by business unit and review it with business partners.
  • Change financial forecasts following monthly analysis and discussions with different business partners.

Ad Hoc and Continuous Improvement:

  • Prepare various ad hoc requirements for the Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis.
  • Support the finance team with month-end closing procedures and the preparation of monthly management reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or administration.
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience.
  • CPA designation is an asset.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) both oral and written.
  • Strong analytical thinking.
  • Autonomous and proactive.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in accounting and financial systems and software; knowledge of Microsoft Excel/PowerPoint.
