Job Overview:
Responsible for providing financial planning, analysis and business partnership for Logistics, with a focus on freight, warehousing and distribution performance. This role partners closely with Logistics and Supply Chain teams to drive cost visibility, productivity, forecast accuracy and fact-based decision-making that improves service, profitability and end-to-end supply chain performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Freight, Warehousing Cost & Performance Management
- Analyze freight, warehousing and distribution costs, including rate, volume, mix, fuel, accessorial, storage and other key cost drivers.
- Own recurring logistics performance reporting and variance analysis versus budget, forecast and prior periods.
- Partner with Logistics teams to identify cost reduction and productivity opportunities and track project-level P&L impact, timing and benefit realization.
- Develop cost-to-serve, lane, carrier, warehouse and network analyses to improve transparency and support optimization decisions.
- Support logistics sourcing, carrier and 3PL evaluations through total-cost analysis and financial modelling.
- Investigate material variances and work with business partners to define and follow through on corrective actions.
Logistics Financial Planning & Business Partnership
- Serve as the primary Finance partner to Logistics and Warehousing teams, providing financial insight on freight, distribution and warehousing performance.
- Translate Logistics priorities and operating plans into budgets, forecasts, latest estimates and actionable financial targets.
- Provide clear visibility into logistics cost drivers, service trade-offs, risks and opportunities to support business decisions.
- Build trusted relationships with Supply Chain, Operations and Finance stakeholders and provide timely, fact-based recommendations.
- Support annual planning and long-range planning for Logistics, ensuring assumptions are aligned with business and network requirements.
Financial Reporting, Forecasting & Month-End
- Lead monthly forecasting, reporting and performance reviews for Logistics and related supply chain cost centres.
- Prepare month-end accruals, journal support, reconciliations and variance explanations to ensure accurate and timely financial results.
- Maintain an integrated view of freight and warehousing spend, productivity and key operational drivers.
- Identify emerging financial risks and opportunities and ensure they are reflected appropriately in forecasts and latest estimates.
- Partner with Accounting and Supply Chain Finance to improve forecast accuracy, data quality and reporting consistency.
- Maintain strong financial controls and support compliance with corporate policies, SOX and audit requirements.
Decision Support, Productivity & Working Capital
- Develop financial models and business cases for logistics initiatives, network changes, service improvements and capital or technology investments.
- Support scenario modelling and trade-off analysis across freight cost, warehousing capacity, inventory, service and customer requirements.
- Provide financial validation of logistics productivity initiatives, including baseline, timing, savings methodology and realized benefits.
- Partner with Supply Planning, Logistics and Finance to understand inventory-related cost and working-capital impacts within the distribution network.
- Ensure material logistics risks and opportunities are quantified and communicated to appropriate stakeholders.
Analytics, Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and improve analytics, dashboards and reporting that increase visibility to logistics cost, productivity and service performance.
- Use ERP, Power BI and other analytical tools to simplify recurring reporting, automate manual processes and improve decision support.
- Support implementation and adoption of S/4HANA and other Finance and Supply Chain systems and tools as required.
- Standardize financial processes and documentation and identify opportunities to improve control, speed and efficiency.
Collaboration & Influence
- Partner cross-functionally with Logistics, Warehousing, Supply Planning, Operations, Procurement, Commercial Finance and Accounting.
- Communicate financial and operational insights clearly to business partners and senior leaders, highlighting implications and recommended actions.
- Provide analytical support and financial coaching to Logistics stakeholders to strengthen cost ownership and performance accountability.
- Contribute to cross-functional projects and continuous-improvement initiatives across Integrated Supply Chain.

The Recipe for Success:
- Completion of university degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline
- Minimum 4 years of progressive financial analysis, FP&A, accounting or business-partnering experience.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, month-end reporting, variance analysis and financial modelling.
- Experience supporting Supply Chain, Logistics, Warehousing, Distribution and/or Operations.
- Strong knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and variance analysis.
- Strong understanding of Logistics financial drivers, including freight, warehousing, distribution, productivity, rate, volume, mix and cost-to-serve.
- Strong analytical, financial modelling, business-case, reporting and problem-solving capabilities with high attention to detail.
- Ability to build relationships and influence cross-functional stakeholders in Finance and Supply Chain.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex financial and operational information into clear actions.
- Experience with ERP systems, Excel and Power BI or similar analytics tools; S/4HANA experience is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes, automate reporting and work effectively with large data sets.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
