Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of FP&A, Senior Financial Analyst (FP&A) provides operational and organizational support to financial and strategic planning, forecasting, and analysis. The position collaborates cross-functionally in planning, analysis, and reporting of financial results.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsibility for modelling and forecasting the balance sheet, including the mortgage continuity
- Responsibility for modelling and forecasting revenue, including net interest margin
- Accountability for consolidated Haventree Bank forecast model, including key financial metrics, capital, and shareholders’ equity
- Review monthly financial results against Plan and prior forecast versions with relevant business unit leaders to form business commentary, explain variances, and assess reasonability of the business units’ forecast assumptions
- Accountability for monthly FP&A reports to executive management
- Assist with preparing quarterly FP&A board materials
- Identify areas of risk or opportunity in Plan and Forecast and drive what-if scenarios and/or sensitivity analysis on balance sheet (including capital) and related P&L lines
- Identify areas for reporting improvements and process automation, and support the Director, FP&A in implementation
- Strong working knowledge of FP&A technology stack to support process & reporting improvements and ensure existing processes & reporting can be maintained
- Support the Director, FP&A in providing ad-hoc coaching and guidance to junior analysts on complex issues
Qualifications & Experience:
Degrees, Diplomas & Certifications:
- The position requires a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or equivalent, or a professional designation (CPA, CMA, CA, MBA or CFA).
Years and Range of Experience Required to Perform the Job:
- The position requires at least 3-4 years demonstrated experience in financial analysis; banking experience is a strong asset.
- Advanced Excel and Powerpoint skills. Experience working with cloud finance platforms including Adaptive Planning and Tableau is preferred.
- Strong business acumen.
- Excellent communicator, able to convey ideas and issues to finance and non-finance audiences at varying levels with clarity.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
