THE OFFICE

Permanently Hybrid (3 Days a Week, 2 Days Remote)

THE ROLE

A key contributor delivering value‑added financial analysis for a major banner division while supporting corporate reporting requirements and mentoring a co‑op student.

THE TASKS
Financial Operations & Reporting

May include, but not be limited to, the following tasks:

  • Lead financial planning for the banner head office cost centers, including budget preparation and forecast development
  • Prepare monthly reporting deliverables following documented processes
  • Analyze divisional performance and explain variances versus targets, budgets, and forecasts
Business Partnering

May include, but not be limited to, the following tasks:

  • Partner with the banner President and leadership team to walk them through financials and provide insights
  • Support the Chief Digital Officer with financial analysis and reporting
  • Gather business initiatives and action plans from stakeholders to support annual budget development
Corporate Reporting & Presentations

May include, but not be limited to, the following tasks:

  • Prepare and coordinate presentations and reporting packages for corporate reporting cycles
  • Complete required submissions to head office on time and with accuracy
  • Compile data and build presentation decks using PowerPoint for executive audiences
Ad Hoc Requests & Special Projects

May include, but not be limited to, the following tasks:

  • Respond to ad hoc analysis requests from banner leadership and corporate stakeholders
  • Mentor and coach co‑op student, reviewing their work and providing guidance
  • Propose and implement process improvements for efficiency

THE EXPECTATIONS TIMELINE
By Month 1
  • Meet with business partners and stakeholders to understand the banner and digital team requirements
  • Learn the various tools and systems used for reporting and analysis
  • Gather information on 2026 action plans and initiatives from stakeholders
  • Build relationships with the co‑op student and begin understanding their documentation
By Month 3
  • Independently complete monthly reporting deliverables following documented processes
  • Successfully submit corporate reporting requirements to head office on time
  • Support the annual budget development process for 2026
  • Demonstrate comfort with all required tools and reporting systems
By Month 6
  • Own the preparation of presentations and have confident conversations with business partners
  • Manage ad hoc requests independently, seeking guidance only when needed
  • Demonstrate strong follow‑through on deliverables without requiring reminders
  • Effectively supervise and develop the co‑op student
By Month 12
  • Receive positive feedback from the banner President and leadership team on the quality of insights provided
  • Successfully manage all corporate reporting requirements with accuracy and timeliness
  • Be recognized as a trusted finance partner who adds value to the business
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance FP&A effectiveness
THE SKILL SET
  • CPA designation required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in financial reporting and analysis
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint with strong presentation skills
