We are looking for a Senior Financial Analyst of Financial Reporting to join our busy financial reporting team on a one-year contract, with the possibility of extension / permanency.

Responsibilities :

  • Assist in quarterly and annual financial close processes relating to the accounting and associated financial statement disclosures
  • Assist in the preparation of external IFRS and GAAP financial statements
  • Prepare or review monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations for various GL accounts. Identify imbalances and pursue resolution with line of business teams
  • Ensure the accurate and timely recording of period end journal entries in support of the financial close process.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for other members of the Financial Reporting team and line of business teams for routine transaction activity.
  • Research, recommend and implement solutions to improve the effectiveness of internal controls within the area
  • Research, recommend and implement solutions for complex new and existing transactional accounting issues and disclosure requirements
  • Prepare or review reports and complete surveys for internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare financial information, regulatory reports and reports to senior management
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors and support audit requests
  • Provide back up to team as required
  • Participate in projects as assigned

Qualifications :

  • Completion of a university degree with courses in accounting, business and mathematics
  • Experience in the financial services / insurance industry preferred
  • Experience with RiskIntegrity software is an asset
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing and database software, with advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerBI competency strongly preferred
  • Strong proficiency with IFRS, including IFRS 17 Insurance Contracts, investment accounting, fund accounting and reporting
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Well-developed analytical and decision-making skills
  • Ability to think logically and solve problems
  • Well-developed organizational skills
  • Ability to conduct research and analysis
