Job summary

Engineers and Geoscientists BC in Burnaby, BC is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst on a contract from November 2026 to January 2028. The role leads FP&A for the association and its charities, develops financial reports, and drives process improvements with a hybrid work setup.

The ideal candidate holds a CPA, a Bachelor's degree in a related field, and 5–7 years of budgeting/forecasting experience, with strong Excel and Power BI skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field is required.
• CPA designation is required.
• 5-7 years of experience with budgeting and forecasting processes, including financial models and reports.
• Strong IT skills with Excel (Pivot Tables, Lookups, Macros), Dynamics 365 BC, and Power BI.
• Strong grasp of accounting principles with at least 5 years post-designation experience.
• Excellent internal controls and risk-management mindset.
• Experience leading and mentoring junior team members.

Engineers and Geoscientists BC is currently searching for a Senior Financial Analystto join our team in Burnaby on a contract from November 2026 until January 2028!

The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for leading the financial planning and analysis functions of Engineers and Geoscientists BC, its charities, and associated entities. The role is responsible for assisting in the development of financial reports, identifying opportunities for process improvements, and developing better tools and processes to support the association’s reporting and planning functions.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• Leads the development of all templates and reporting related to financial plans, budgets, forecasts, projections, and reporting; provides scenario analysis of operating budgets; designs, updates and maintains budgeting schedules and templates.
• Assembles budgeting and forecasting reports for the Leadership Team, Executives and Board presentations; prepares data including variance reports comparing actuals to budgets and forecasts and year-over-year activities.
• Support the design, adoption and enhancement of the planning, budgeting, and forecasting process and system, including improvements to data governance and automation.
• Prepares information packages, analysis, and questions, and attends financial review meetings with budget owners to analyze results compared to Budget and Forecast and historical results.
• Develops and maintains actionable management reporting, performs recurring and ad hoc analysis, provides insights into performance, variances, drivers, and key trends to support organizational performance, leadership goals, and key initiatives.
• Serves as team lead for financial planning and analysis practices and policy inquiries.Assists in the design and implementation of new policies, processes, and reporting requirements.
• Assists in leading finance projects in cooperation with other departments within the organization.
• Other duties as assigned by direct leader and, as appropriate, members of the departmental leadership team.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

The successful applicant will possess the following:

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field is required.
• CPA designation is required.
• 5-7 years of experience withcomplex budgeting and forecasting processes, including creating financial models and reports.
• Strong information technology experience, including MS Excel (e.g., Pivot Tables, Lookups, Macros), MS Dynamic Business Central, and MS Dynamic Power BI.
• Strong grasp of accounting principles – minimum 5 years of post-designation experience.
• Strong understanding of internal controls, risk management, process improvements for efficiencies.
• Expertise in financial modeling and analysis.
• Experience leading and sharing knowledge with junior team members.

This role offers a competitive compensation and benefits program including a salary within our hiring range of $88,000 to $98,500.
