Reporting to Director, Financial Planning and Analysis, this position supports the FP&A function at The Armstrong Collective, specifically in IT, CAPEX, and Finance & Procurement financial planning. The role is responsible for maintaining financial models, driving analysis and collaborating with key business partners to provide financial insights that inform strategic decisions.
Key Areas of Accountability
Decision Support and Analysis
• Proactively partner with IT, Finance, Procurement, and CAPEX teams to identify and monitor spending trends, ensuring alignment with profitability, growth, and efficiency targets
• Assist departments in preparing budget submissions and reviews that adhere to policy and regulatory requirements
• Assist IT leadership in evaluating software, hardware, and cloud service investments, ensuring alignment with business strategy
• Support CAPEX budget planning, tracking capital projects, and ensuring compliance with financial policies
• Perform ROI analysis for IT and CAPEX projects, contributing to business cases for major investments
• Support and maintain the corporate financial model, integrating IT, Finance and CAPEX forecasting and scenario analysis
• Develop deep understanding of financial assumptions within the business
• Support cost-benefit models for IT investments and capital projects
Reporting
• Monitor KPIs to identify trends and deliver insight to key business partners
• Conduct monthly variance analysis shortly after each month-end, to deliver timely financial insights
• Conduct monthly reforecasting variance analysis
Interpersonal
• Build trusting relationships with IT, Procurement, and Finance teams to foster data-driven decision-making
• Partner with the Data & Insights team to analyze metrics and provide meaningful financial analysis
• Serve as a key liaison between finance, procurement, IT and CAPEX teams, ensuring financial objectives align with business strategy
• Work collaboratively with Accounting to deliver accurate financial reporting focused on IT, Finance, and CAPEX investments
• Promote a team-oriented mindset, driving collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
Education/Certifications/Knowledge
• Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required (MBA an asset)
• Professional accounting designation (CPA) or equivalent required
Experience
• 7+ years’ experience in progressive financial positions
• 3+ years’ experience in FP&A, focusing on IT and CAPEX preferred
• Experience implementing corporate planning and analysis tools is an asset
• Prior experience in a technology-driven organization or CAPEX-intensive industry is an asset
Skills
• Strong expertise in financial modelling, budgeting, and forecasting
• Ability to evaluate IT investments and CAPEX projects with a strategic financial lens
• Proficiency in Excel, NetSuite, and financial reporting tools
• Strong communication and business partnership skills to collaborate with IT and Corporate teams
• Analytical mindset with curiosity to understand business drivers behind IT and CAPEX expenditures
• Vancouver corporate-based; Hybrid role, minimum 3 days in office.
Compensation
• The base salary offered for this role is $95,000 to $105,000 per annum and can vary based on job-related expertise, qualifications, experience and internal equity.
