Responsibilities also involve cash receipting and handling and maintaining Financial Services website information.ResponsibilitiesPrepare or supervise the preparation of various reports:Annual charity returnsCanadian Association of University Business Officers (CAUBO) annual financial reportsVarious Statistics Canada reportsAnnual IRS forms and fillingsMiscellaneous reports as requiredMaintain the General Ledger System:Oversee and maintain the general ledger in Ellucian Colleague and other financial systems as per established procedures, including access authorization and account structures and the Financial Services website information, as well as training on these systemsTest any proposed software changes to the accounting system to determine impact on financial reports and processes and assist with the implementation of any new related softwareOversee and maintain on-line account signing authority access, which includes establishing access for new employees, making changes as necessary, maintaining master listing of signing authority of all general ledger accounts, and investigating problems as they arise; maintaining signing authority account set up for online requisitioningOther:Oversee the processing of accounting entries (timely preparation and approval), and liaise with departments to ensure timely submission of necessary informationReconcile and analyze various accounts as per established proceduresMaintain and monitor University equipment budget as per established procedures and approve all related POApprove purchase order requisitions from accounts under the purview of the positionApprove disbursements and journal entries on same accounts as per established procedures, ensuring disbursements are appropriate under the terms of the grant or contract and that funds are in place to cover expensesSupport the annual audit by providing information relating to accounts under purview of this positionProvide back up and support for the other members of Financial Services as requiredRespond to inquiries from the campus community regarding accounts under purview of this positionPerform other related duties as requiredQualifications/skillsAn undergraduate business degree required, with a concentration in accounting preferredMinimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant financial accounting experience including experience in compliance, business process and financial management, preferably in a post-secondary environmentExcellent relationship-building skillsSupervisory experience preferredStrong communication skills; demonstrated ability to work effectively with people, easily moving from working independently to contributing as part of a teamStrong analytical, organizational and time management skillsAccuracy is essential; extreme attention to detail is criticalExpert proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skillsDemonstrate
