Senior Financial Analyst

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) is seeking a permanent full-time Senior Financial Analyst with the Finance department, based at the RDN Administration Building.

The Senior Financial Analyst provides budgeting support to departments, senior management and the Board and performs complex financial analysis, provides strategic decision support, and makes recommendations regarding high impact financial and strategic decisions. Exercising considerable independent judgement, this position is a key resource in the development of the annual financial plans for the RDN and Nanaimo Regional Hospital District (NRHD). The Senior Financial Analyst is also responsible for coordinating the budget processes and improving policies, procedures and systems related to budgeting.

QUALIFICATIONS
A Degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Business Administration is required as well as a CPA designation (formerly CGA, CMA or CA). A minimum five (5) years related experience in a role requiring extensive analysis of financial information in a complex organizational environment, with at least one (1) year at a senior level, is required. The incumbent must have experience developing financial reports and preparing budgets; developing, evaluating and implementing a variety of financial operations and systems; and documenting and implementing budgeting and accounting policies and procedures. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

POSITION DETAILS
This is a permanent full-time exempt position offering 35 hours of work per week with a salary range of $99,975 to $111,083. This salary is based on the 2024 exempt salary structure and does not reflect the results of the salary review that is currently underway in accordance with the exempt compensation policy. Additionally, this position includes a competitive benefits package including extended health and dental coverage, employer-matched contributions to the Municipal Pension Plan and eligibility to participate in the RDN’s flex days program.
