Overview

Our client, a premier meat manufacturing company located in Orillia, Ontario, is actively seeking a Senior Financial Analyst on a contract to permanent basis. This role is essential in supporting the Controller in gathering data and preparing financial analyses, contributing significantly to decision-making in accordance with strategic objectives. The position will contribute to the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial operations, aiding in financial planning and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support in Planning and Analysis: Assist the Controller in collecting data and preparing analyses for the FP&A process, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, to enable strategic financial decision-making.
  • Manufacturing Metrics, Cost Analysis, and Inventory Management: Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to capture and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and cost standards. Conduct physical inventories and monitor the cycle count program to ensure inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.
  • Financial Reporting and Compliance: Support the preparation of financial statements in compliance with IFRS and other regulatory standards, ensuring adherence to legal and tax requirements.
  • General Ledger and Account Management: Help maintain the general ledger, manage accrued liabilities, prepaid expenses, and depreciation schedules, upholding the accuracy of financial records.
  • Operational and Team Support: Provide analytical support for business initiatives and collaborate across departments to meet financial and operational goals. Contribute to the mentoring and development of junior finance team members.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA designation is advantageous.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in financial reporting, modeling, and KPI development in a manufacturing setting.
  • Proficiency in GAPP/IFRS.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and working knowledge of SQL and BI.
  • Advanced Excel skills a must.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication abilities.

The position reports to the Controller.
