Job summary

Postmedia is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Finance team. This remote role supports Ontario or Eastern Canada while collaborating with cross-functional teams on budgeting, forecasting, and revenue reconciliations.

The ideal candidate has 4–6 years in FP&A, strong Prophix experience, and excellent communication skills to present insights to senior management. CPA/CFA/MBA are assets; base salary is competitive within the Canadian market.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field; professional credentials are a strong asset.
• 4–6 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, preferably in a senior/lead role.
• Experience with revenue reconciliations and FP&A in a media/advertising context is ideal.
• Proficiency with Prophix or similar FP&A software; ERP experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual planning processes: budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis.
• Analyze financial performance across departments; identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Oversee advertising revenue reconciliations and ensure contract alignment.
• Prepare and present financial reports, KPIs, and cost control metrics to senior management.
• Collaborate with department heads to provide financial insights for strategic goals.
• Maintain and enhance financial models to improve forecasting accuracy.
• Develop annual budgets and periodic forecasts; provide recommendations.
• Utilize Prophix or similar FP&A tools for consolidation, budgeting, and reporting.
• Perform ad-hoc analysis for high-impact projects and senior leadership decisions.
• Drive process improvements in financial reporting workflows for accuracy.

The Opportunity:

Postmedia Network Inc. is seeking an experienced and analytical Senior Financial Analyst to join our Finance team. This role is essential to our organization’s financial planning and analysis, providing senior-level insights and recommendations that influence strategic decision-making. The Senior Financial Analyst will play a key role in supporting various departments through detailed financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and revenue reconciliations. Expertise with Prophix or similar financial planning and analysis software is strongly preferred.

What you'll do:

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

• Maintain, enhance, and optimize financial models to improve forecasting accuracy and reporting effectiveness.
• Guide the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, providing key insights and recommendations.
• Utilize Prophix (or similar FP&A software) for financial consolidation, budgeting, and reporting tasks, ensuring data integrity and process efficiency.
• Lead ad-hoc financial analysis to support high-impact projects and senior management decision-making.
• Drive process improvements within financial reporting and analysis workflows to increase efficiency and accuracy.

Who you are:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; CPA, CFA, or MBA is a strong asset.
• 4-6 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, preferably in a senior or lead role.
• Proven expertise in revenue reconciliations, ideally within a media or advertising industry setting.
• Proficiency with Prophix or other financial planning software (e.g., Adaptive Insights, Hyperion) is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with NetSuite or other ERP tool
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is an asset.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to manage complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly convey financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, with strong organizational and project management skills.

Compensation:

Employment offerspresented to the selected candidate are based on a combination of qualifications, experience, responsibilities of the role and the candidate's location.

Base Salary: $79,000-$90,000
