Job summary

The Senior Financial Analyst is a critical role in Moose Jaw City's financial health. Responsibilities

• Support Capital and Equipment Reserve budgets and prepare the annual budget document for Council.
• Recommend technology adoption to improve financial processes and efficiency.

Job description

The Senior Financial Analyst is a critical role in the Citys financial health. This position is responsible for closely supporting the Moose Jaw citywide budgeting and forecasting processes, performing financial analysis and partnering closely with departmental managers to provide financial guidance and support across the City.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serve as the main custodian of the City Budget tools; prepare annual Call for Estimates, coordinate departmental budget reviews, and assist managers with budget-to-actual variance monitoring
• Develop rolling forecasts; lead monthly business reviews and partner with departments to address financial variance outcomes
• Conduct cost-benefit and PESTEL analyses, maintain the City KPI Dashboard, and support Enterprise Risk Management heat map reporting
• Under the guidance of the Director of Financial Services, act as the primary resource for the Citys Capital and Equipment Reserve Budgets, partnering with the Finance Director and other City leadership to produce the annual budget document for Council review
• Be innovative in their work approach by, suggesting, project managing, and delivering technology adoption initiatives to enhance financial processes, accuracy and operational efficiencies
• Actively role model corporate values

QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree in Business, Commerce or Economics and/or a Chartered Professional Accountant designation
• 3 years experience in financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting
• Valid Class 5 Drivers License with vehicle
• Knowledge of software tools such as Business Central and Questica Budgeting and proficient in Power BI
• Proven capacity to foster a positive workplace culture
• Strong ability to prioritize, manage tight deadlines
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
