The opportunity

The Partnership Operations Group is dedicated to supporting EY Canada leaders across both the partner talent and financial life cycles. As a team of problem solvers, we are committed to resolving complex business issues and providing comprehensive support from strategy through to implementation. As a Senior Financial Accountant, Partnership Operations, you will leverage your expertise to perform complex accounting activities, including reconciliation and analysis of financial information, preparation of journal entries, and review of financial controls in accordance with established policies, procedures, and statutory requirements.

This position is fully on-site at the Toronto office, facilitating close collaboration, effective communication, and secure handling of sensitive information.

Your key responsibilities
  • Drive Financial Excellence: Lead the preparation and analysis of complex financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established policies and regulations.
  • Collaborative Problem-Solving: Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements, enhancing operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Project Leadership: Take ownership of smaller projects and contribute as a key team member on larger initiatives, driving results and delivering value to stakeholders.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Generate timely and insightful reports and presentations for the Executive team, providing analytical support to drive strategic decision-making.
  • Process Innovation: Identify opportunities for automation and technology integration to streamline accounting processes and enhance reporting capabilities.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a trusted point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, addressing accounting inquiries and providing expert guidance.

To qualify for the role, you must have
  • Professional Accounting Designation & Experience: Must hold a valid CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation, demonstrating a strong foundation in accounting principles and practices, with a minimum of 4 years of progressive financial accounting experience, preferably in a partnership or corporate environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong computer literacy with advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and familiarity with accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Time Management Skills: Exceptional time management abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to prioritize tasks effectively and manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels, both internal and external.
  • Commitment to Continuous Learning: A proactive approach to professional development, with a willingness to attend seminars and courses relevant to the field of financial accounting.
  • Knowledge of Taxation (Ideally): Familiarity with partnership, personal, and corporate tax regulations and experience in their preparation is a plus.
