Job description

A leading global software company is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join its dynamic finance team. This full-time permanent position offers a hybrid work model (3 days in-office) in their downtown, Toronto location.

As a key member of the finance team, the SFA will support financial operations, ensure accuracy in reporting, and drive process improvements through automation and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Record, verify, and consolidate financial transactions to ensure data integrity.
  • Maintain and update general ledger data for subsidiaries, prepare trial balances, and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Execute timely and accurate closing activities to meet financial reporting deadlines.
  • Evaluate and enhance workflow processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Generate monthly trend reports, perform balance sheet reconciliations, and analyze financial data for reporting accuracy.
  • Assist with external audits by preparing documentation, analyzing general ledger accounts, and providing structured working papers.
  • Develop financial models and ad hoc reports to support strategic decision-making.
  • Implement and manage fixed asset tracking, including depreciation and continuity schedules.
  • Investigate complex financial transactions and recommend best-practice solutions.
  • Identify and implement emerging technologies to automate accounting processes.
  • Contribute to finance-related system and process implementation projects.

What You Bring :

  • Canadian CPA designation (required)
  • 5+ years of experience in a financial accountant position with financial reporting requirements
  • CPA firm experience combined with software industry experience required
  • Exposure to multi-entity financial reporting
  • Exceptional communication skills, written and spoken
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with large datasets
  • Payroll process experience is a strong asset
  • Experience with NetSuite is preferred
  • Experience in SaaS or recurring revenue environments is beneficial
