Overview

Are you a seasoned accounting professional with a passion for financial excellence, process improvement, and governance?

Our client, a well-established leader in their industry, is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join their head office team in the Fredericton, NB area. This dynamic role offers the opportunity to contribute to key financial and risk management processes while leading initiatives that enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial accounts
  • Prepare and present financial statements, cash flow analyses, and other performance reports
  • Conduct accounting research and ensure compliance with standards, regulations, and company policies
  • Oversee preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts
  • Perform detailed variance and expense analyses, recommending corrective actions to improve performance
  • Prepare financial analysis to support operational, investment, and strategic decision-making
  • Support audits and coordinate with external auditors to address findings
  • Monitor internal controls and lead process reviews to identify areas for improvement
  • Assist with cash management, including foreign currency risk oversight
  • Support insurance and risk management programs
  • Assist in developing Board and governance-related materials
  • Support billing processes as required for specific operations
  • Undertake other responsibilities as assigned
Experience & Attributes for Success
  • CPA designation preferred
  • Post-secondary degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a senior or supervisory role
  • Process improvement experience or Lean Six Sigma certification is an asset
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including financial modeling
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; French language ability is an asset
