OCL Group Inc. in Edmonton, AB is seeking an experienced Senior Corporate Accountant to join our finance team.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will lead month-end close, cash flow management, and oversee accounts payable/receivable, ensuring accurate and timely reporting. You will mentor junior staff, drive process improvements, and position yourself for future leadership, including potential Corporate Controller duties.

Qualifications

  • CPA designation is considered an asset; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including advanced skills in Excel, and familiarity with Google Workspace applications.
  • Strong analytical ability to reconcile, interpret, and assess financial data, identify issues, and recommend solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative and a positive, growth-oriented mindset, with a willingness to learn and take ownership.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Must reside in the Edmonton area and have reliable transportation to and from work.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the corporate accounting team through the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and completeness.
  • Support the Financial Controller in the preparation and review of monthly financial statements and related reporting deliverables.
  • Prepare and maintain supporting documentation, reconciliations, and schedules required for both internal and external reporting.
  • Assist the Financial Controller in leading the annual financial statement audit, including coordinating with external auditors, preparing audit support, responding to requests, and resolving audit inquiries.
  • Review and approve monthly journal entries, and support the processing of complex, non-routine transactions.
  • Assist in the preparation and ongoing management of the corporate cash forecast, including analysis of actual results against forecast and development of forecast assumptions using relevant operational inputs.
  • Support the Financial Controller in the preparation of quarterly reporting deliverables, including covenant reporting, financial forecasting, and preparation of Board reporting and presentation materials.
  • Support equipment financing through the analysis of lease proposals and the maintenance of capital lease schedules.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to the Accounts Payable team, including reviewing invoices, resolving discrepancies, ensuring accurate and timely posting of vendor invoices, and supporting the completion of weekly payment runs.
  • Provide oversight of the Accounts Receivable function, ensuring accurate billing and cash application, monitoring accounts receivable aging, and driving timely collection of outstanding balances.
  • Evaluate accounting processes, internal controls, and workflows to identify opportunities for increased efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.

The Role

We are currently looking to add an experienced Senior Corporate Accountant to join our finance team in Edmonton, AB. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of all financial reporting requirements. The Senior Corporate Accountant will take a lead role in month-end close activities, cash flow management, accounts receivable oversight, and accounts payable cycle.

As a senior member of the team, the Senior Corporate Accountant will help mentor junior staff, strengthen cross‑functional collaboration, and champion best practices in internal processes and controls to drive operational excellence. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, proactively seeks improvements, and is motivated to grow into a future leadership position.
