Senior Finance Coordinator (Controller)

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Director of Finance & Operations, the Sr Finance Coordinator is responsible for applying generally accepted accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, preparing accurate and timely financial reports and statements, ensuring appropriate accounting control procedures are in place and align with Institute policies, reviewing accounting transactions for accuracy and completeness. Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements along with management reports. Liaise with other departments as part of the annual budgeting process and work with team leaders to establish financial/budgetary goals. Supervision of assigned staff, leading a culture of continual improvement and process efficiency, ensuring adequate internal controls are present, identify internal control issues and work with the Director of Finance & Operations to implement solutions. This position will take a lead role in the implementation of the Institute’s new Enterprise Resource Planning/Student Information System and other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance & Operations.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance. A combination of equivalent educational qualifications and work experience may be considered. Previous experience with financial systems and management/supervisory experience would be considered an asset. A demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with staff and other agencies is a must. The successful candidate must have an extensive understanding of Métis culture.
Remuneration: A competitive salary and benefits package
Term: July 2025 – July 2026 (subject to renewal)
