A leading company is seeking a senior finance and general accounting advisor for a 12-month temporary position. The role involves managing financial accounts, producing financial reports, and advising on strategic projects. Temporary position for 12 months
As a senior finance and general accounting advisor, you help manage financial accounts in keeping with the organization’s objectives. You do this by producing reports, audits, verifications, inspections and financial simulations as well as analyzing financial risks, losses and profits. You participate in the financial performance, planning and review of budget processes. You help manage and monitor accounting systems by gathering, processing and recording financial data to accurately reflect the organization’s economic activity. You participate in product and service pricing and financial engineering; in financial market transactions; and in tax law analysis (including payroll). You take on a leadership role for participants in development projects and innovative, complex and strategic initiatives. Your initiatives require extensive, in-depth knowledge of your specialty area. You make recommendations on the development and execution of projects and initiatives with a high degree of operational and conceptual complexity. You use your analytical skills and comprehensive, detailed understanding of your line of business and the organization. Coordination is critical. You interact with many contributors working in a wide range of fields. Interpersonal savvy is therefore essential. You serve as a specialist advisor and subject matter expert. You’re also a resource person and coach for decision-making bodies. More specifically, you will be required to :
Serve as a subject matter expert for various contributors and decision-making bodies
Advise your clients and partners to help them position, plan, develop, execute and monitor strategic projects and initiatives under your responsibility
Provide internal Desjardins teams and external partners with expertise on affordable housing, primarily on financing packages and patient capital
Support the administrative department in the design of risk management models, financial management, legal services and compliance with the parameters set by the Finance and Risk Management Committee
Oversee job tools (real estate financing, patient capital review)
Conduct and propose financial scenarios to identify new models and take part in specific initiatives
Continue work on new financing models
Update our financing solutions, such as ESG
Support the team leader in training team members
Develop and update policies, standards, models and programs to support your unit’s strategic projects and initiatives
Identify, analyze and diagnose major issues, and make recommendations to the relevant decision-making bodies
Monitor the industry to understand and anticipate trends in your line of work and make appropriate recommendations to develop best practices for the organization

What you bring to the table
Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics or a related field
A minimum of six years of relevant experience

Experience in general accounting
Experience in financial analysis and reports
Experience in project management
Experience presenting to executives
Knowledge of French required
Advanced proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients
