A financial services firm is seeking a Senior Finance and Accounting Project Manager to support IFRS Planning and Readiness project. The ideal candidate has over 5 years of project management experience, especially in Finance or Accounting, and a strong background in implementing IFRS standards. This role will involve managing multiple projects and engaging with stakeholders across various teams to ensure compliance with new standards.

The team is looking for a Senior Finance and Accounting Project Manager to support IFRS Planning and Readiness project. The individual will be managing two projects (IFRS9/7 & IFRS 18) with two different teams to implement new standards and ensure all processes meet new requirements.
Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Definition
• Develop a comprehensive project plan outlining phases, activities, milestones, and timelines for IFRS readiness.
• Facilitate workshops and meetings with stakeholders across Finance, Risk, Technology, and Operations to identify impacted areas and requirements.
• Conduct detailed task breakdowns and effort estimations.
• Define required resources (human, technological, financial) and assess investment needs for the planning phase.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
• Lead regular stakeholder meetings to gather input, validate assumptions, and build consensus.
• Present project status updates to the Operating Committee and facilitate decision-making.
• Prepare executive-level summaries and recommendations for the Executive Steering Committee to ensure alignment and secure approvals.
Project Governance & Control
• Develop and maintain key project artifacts including:
o Detailed Project Plan
o RAID Log (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies)
o Stakeholder Register
o Communication Plan
o Meeting Minutes and Action Item Trackers
• Monitor progress against the plan, identify deviations, and propose corrective actions.
• Facilitate issue resolution and escalation as needed.
Must Have Skills:
1) 5+ years of experience in project management within Finance or Accounting domains.
2) Experience with implementing IFRS standards
3) Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies (eg. Preparing PowerPoint presentation)
4) 2+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams and driving complex initiatives
5) Proficiency with MS tools (e.g. Excel)
Nice-To-Have Skills:
1) project management experience within banking industry
2) experience with IFRS standards, particularly IFRS 9, 7, and 18
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business management or related field
Best VS. Average Candidate: The ideal candidate would have strong experience in implementing IFRS standards and would have strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
