Job DescriptionVerisk Canada is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Finance & Accounting (F&A) Analyst to join our finance team. The Senior F&A Analyst will work directly with the Verisk Canada Head of Finance to help oversee the finance and accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and partnering with business unit leadership to drive the budget, forecast and multi-year plan cycles. This role will be responsible for managing various accounting functions, preparing financial statements and reports, maintaining financial models, and running ad-hoc financial analysis. Communication and collaboration with internal departments and business unit leadership is required on a frequent basis.
Responsibilities- Oversee F&A functions including requisitions and purchase orders, CapEx reporting, revenue share and commission review, general ledger reconciliations, and flux analysis.
- Key contributor in month-end accounting close (revenue, accruals, journal entries, etc.).
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, management reports, and financial data, communicating results to stakeholders.
- Partner with the Head of Finance and business unit leadership to drive the budget, quarterly forecast and multi-year plan cycles.
- Collaborate with the Head of Finance to develop automated reporting and better leverage systems and technology to improve efficiency and quality.
- Participate in special value-add projects, contributing expertise and insights.
- Partner across multiple levels of the organization, including business unit teams, divisional leadership, and the corporate finance group, to drive consistency and ensure alignment of financial goals with broader business strategy.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of finance/accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior role.
- Proficiency in financial modeling with advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Oracle ERP is a plus.
- Thorough understanding of accounting principles, practices and standards.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills.
- Must be comfortable speaking and presenting to senior leadership.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and reliability.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to work both independently and in team settings.
