  • Carry out commissioning, maintenance, and corrective actions on utility substation or generation station protection and control systems.
  • Monitor worksite projects at our clients’ facilities.
  • Serve in various roles, including project, proposal, and site work leader.
  • Assist in implementing new apparatus, protection, and SCADA systems for substation projects.
  • Work in outdoor environments in remote locations.
  • Apply and improve established work methods.
  • Provide protection system support remotely or onsite.
  • Develop protection and control systems on site and in the BBA digital power systems laboratories across Canada.

Summary of certifications and job requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in electrical engineering, telecommunications, or relevant fields.
  • 3-7 years of experience in electrical apparatus maintenance, protection relay, and control systems testing.
  • Experience in operational and brownfield environments with industrial and utility systems.
  • Comfort working in severe weather, remote locations, and limited communication settings.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs consistently.
  • Availability to travel across Canada and for short- and long-term assignments.
  • Assets include electrical tickets, bilingualism, experience in power control systems, and knowledge of protocols like DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850.
