Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking a Senior Field Applications Engineer (FAE) to apply deep hardware, firmware, and embedded systems expertise in a high-impact customer-facing role in Canada.

You will collaborate with customers, sales, and product teams to shape architectures, drive design-in opportunities, and bring products to market while mentoring junior FAEs and traveling to customer sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering.
• 7+ years of design or applications experience in embedded systems, hardware, software, firmware, networking, Ethernet, FPGA, security, SoCs.
• Strong track record of taking multiple hardware, firmware, software, or embedded designs from concept through production.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites as required.

Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted technical advisor to strategic customers, influencing system architecture, technology selection, and product integration decisions.
• Partner with sales teams to identify customer needs, shape technical strategy, and drive design-in and design-win opportunities.
• Support customers throughout the product lifecycle, from early architecture discussions and proof of concept through production launch and post-sales support.
• Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, and training sessions for customers and partners.
• Analyze customer requirements and recommend optimal product usage, system architecture, software, firmware, interface, logic, IP integration, and implementation strategies.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior FAEs and other team members.
