What you will do...

• Farm Underwriting portfolio management – assessing and evaluating risks, and providing high quality Underwriting decisions.
• Underwrite and negotiate high risk and high complexity renewals, policy endorsements and new business.
• Working within Heartland’s Underwriting standards, negotiating terms and conditions of risk acceptance with brokers.
• Use front-line knowledge of the Farm marketplace to help develop, or make changes to, products, pricing, and services in support of Heartland’s strategy.
• Provide Underwriting support and exemplary customer service through developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
• Ensure corporate governance and regulatory compliance with policies and procedures.
• Ensure day-to-day Underwriting practices conform to legal, regulatory, compliancy, and privacy obligations.
• Provide guidance and training to junior Underwriting staff to ensure cohesion and compliance throughout the Farm Underwriting team.

What you will bring...

• 6+ years experience in the insurance industry, with a focus on Farm and Agribusiness.
• Post-secondary education in a related field.
• Ability to assess and analyse individual risks to influence business growth.
• Exemplary analytical skills, the ability to make informed decisions.
• Ability to influence decisions and negotiate strategically.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
• CIP designation, or actively pursuing, is an asset.
