Overview:

To ensure that Mitel is compliant with all Export Control legislation within the areas that Mitel supplies goods and software from within Canada & USA. To also ensure Mitel does not breach international sanctions.

Responsibilities:

  1. Ensuring compliance with all relevant foreign trade regulations including all individual instructions of the competent authorities.
  2. Develop and implement processes and procedures to ensure Import and Export compliance within Canada, U.S, UK, and other EU countries' export laws and regulations.
  3. For such processes/procedures:
    1. Oversee and manage to ensure compliance.
    2. Collect and report data for KPI measurement.
    3. Collect and report data for required government scheduled reporting cycles.
  4. Be the Export Control expert to ensure that Mitel is aware of what Export Control is, how important it is and the consequences of non-compliance.
  5. Ability to apply the Export Control requirements to new technologies such as Cloud-based products and delivery mechanisms.
  6. Lead liaison for Global Affairs Canada.
  7. Maintenance of all foreign trade data for purchased raw materials and sold goods, including classification for EAR, Canadian consolidated list of strategic military and dual-use items, and EU Commerce Control List.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree preferred; or high school diploma + relevant experience.
  2. 5+ years of customs experience.
  3. Sound specialist knowledge and practical application knowledge in the field of customs and export control (DE/FR/EU/USA/CDN), fully conversant with the Canadian and USA Export control legislation.
  4. Good technical understanding of company products, Encryption, and Encryption techniques.
  5. To understand the key parameters that determine if a Mitel product is Dual Use, specifically as it relates to Encryption hardware and software.
  6. Excellent understanding of international sanctions and how to apply them in practical situations.
  7. Good knowledge of standard office tools (MS Office, ERP, SAP).
  8. Familiar with governmental online systems (Canada: EXCOL, USA: SNAP-R) and the permit application process.
  9. Understanding of application of Export Regulations to Cloud applications.
  10. Understanding the sanction process, monitoring, analyzing, and applying international sanctions.
