Senior Executive Director of Finance / CFO

We have been retained by our client, a well respected Investment firm in Canada involved in RE investments and Hotels looking for a trusted advisor and business partner to the CEO and Senior Leadership team, with responsibility for all finance activities of the firm, including setting the long-term financial strategy in support of the business strategy.

• Develop and implement an overall financial strategy for the company to support strategic and business plans in a transparent environment.
• Assist the CEO and Senior management to ensure that all strategic organizational objectives are achieved; review and report regularly to the company leadership on overall progress against the company’s operating and financial objectives in conjunction with the CEO.
• Develop and improve models to support due diligence analysis and project management of existing and future assets.
• Drive initiatives related to achieving operational excellence in all matters associated with performance management measurement and reporting methods; develop financial tools / reports for sound decision-making.
• Work to ensure that the company maintains an optimal capital structure and effectively meets capital requirements to support corporate growth and initiatives.
• Monitor, improve and communicate with outside advisors, and senior management on various tax strategies and structures.
• Oversee timely and accurate preparation of financial reports and summaries detailing the results including presentations to Senior Management.
• Ensure “best in class” accounting and financial reporting processes are in place.
• Oversee financial resources including cash management (payments, receipts, and forecasting).
• Manage and oversee the treasury function, banking relationships and credit facilities, including the oversight of short and long-term financing plans.
• Develop and maintain sterling relationships with bankers and other lenders / financial partners to implement all financing requirements.
• Create and oversee independent audit functions including strong internal financial and operational controls.
• Support all acquisition and divestment activity by directing financial due diligence and analyzing and structuring required financing or use of proceeds as necessary.
• Oversight and initiation of all tax planning, regulatory reporting matters and compliance.
• Identify the company’s principal risks and implement risk management plans to ensure the company’s assets are optimized and adequately safeguarded.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and / or Finance; a CA / CPA designation is required; an MBA or CFA is a plus.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in an accounting and / or senior finance roles.
• Experience working in a real estate investment environment is a positive; working in a private markets investing environment is also a positive; Financial Experience working in hotels is also a positive.
• Expertise in accounting, reporting, tax, budgeting, managing process, analyzing information, and developing standards
• A deep understanding of financial statements and experience with financial reporting, particularly in concert with corporate strategy and execution

Compensation : Excellent competitive package in Cdn. Dollars ($225 k base, commensurate with experience plus up to 50% bonus based on KPIs) plus all company benefits
