Randstad has partnered with our well-established client in Ottawa on a Senior Estimator position across Heavy Civil Infrastructure projects. Our client is a reputable heavy construction and engineering organization who has been in operation for decades, consistently growing their project scope and team. This is an opportunity for a passionate Estimator who wants to continually grow their skill set and experience with an organization who values their employees. This position is for individuals with experience across infrastructure, bridges, underground, roads or sewers work.

Responsibilities

Obtain tender documents, review site conditions, and perform pre-qualification tasks.

Review and comprehend tender specifications and collaborate with consultants for clarifications.

Perform quantity calculations and generate cost estimates using estimation software.

Secure bonding, insurance, and other tender requirements for submissions.

Prepare and submit tender proposals, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.

Facilitate the handover of all project details to the field operations team after bid awards.

Support change order pricing and maintain thorough documentation for estimates.

Maintain and update a directory of subcontractors, suppliers, and historical bid information.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in preconstruction management or a lead estimation role, with a focus on infrastructure construction projects.

Proven ability to produce tender schedules and conceptual cost calculations.

Strong knowledge of infrastructure projects, including highways, bridges, roads, water and sewer, wastewater treatment plants, and pumping stations.

Familiarity with OPSS, CCDC / CCA contracts, and MTO (Ministry of Transportation Ontario) standards.

Proficiency in Project Estimating principles, including planning, execution, pricing, and vendor / subcontractor management.

A knack for working with construction estimating software, project management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
