Hatfield is seeking a Senior Environmental Specialist - Fisheries and Aquatics to become part of our Environmental Monitoring and Assessment team in North Vancouver, British Columbia. This position is based out of our North Vancouver office and may require travel throughout British Colombia and Alberta.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing environmental effects monitoring programs, fish and fish habitat baseline surveys, mark-recapture studies, effectiveness monitoring of restoration/offsetting projects, species at risk assessments, and riparian vegetation inventories.

  • Acting as primary client contact on proposals and projects.

  • Preparing, submitting, and consulting on design documents/technical reports.

  • Leading meetings/presentations with/to clients and regulators/interest groups.

  • Preparing and managing project schedules and budgets.

  • Providing technical expertise on environmental protection, assessment, permitting, and monitoring.

  • Mentoring and advising technical staff.

  • Leading business development activities, including actively promoting Hatfield’s services to clients, strengthening existing corporate relationships, preparing technical and financial proposals, and client negotiations.

  • Working in the field, occasionally in remote locations.



Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant environmental discipline (fisheries or aquatics).

  • A relevant professional designation or eligible to apply.

  • 7+ years of experience managing environmental studies focused on natural resource development and/or infrastructure projects.

  • General knowledge of federal and provincial environmental legislation and environmental impact assessment processes.

  • A valid driver’s license, experience driving a pickup truck, and ability to be added to our company’s third-party automobile insurance policy.
