Your Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced environmental scientist to join our environmental site assessment, remediation and risk assessment practice in our Ottawa office with expertise in one or both of the following:

  • Environmental site investigation and remediation
  • Environmental risk assessment

As a technical expert you will drive innovative solutions for clients, leveraging your expertise to help them find solutions to a variety of environmental challenges.

  • As a respected expert in the environmental field, you will:
  • Drive client relationships and lead proposals and pursuits.
  • Provide technical and business development mentorship to our local staff.
  • Offer technical leadership on both existing and new projects.

You will collaborate with our established and growing team of practitioners in Ontario, supported by a robust network of technical leaders across the country and globally. As a Canadian leader in environmental site assessment, human health and ecological risk assessment, our group is dedicated to managing environmental issues professionally and proactively. Our staff of professionals includes specialists in hydrogeology, site assessment, contaminant fate and transport, risk assessment, risk management, site remediation, and risk communication.

Your Key Responsibilities

As a senior environmental practitioner, you will play a pivotal role in driving technical excellence and supporting growth of our team specifically focused on environmental site assessment, remediation and/or risk assessment. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Strategic Business Development: Champion a culture of business development by cultivating existing client relationships to identify new relationships to expand Stantec’s market presence
  • Client Engagement: Represent Stantec at key client meetings and within professional and industrial organizations to enhance visibility and influence.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a liaison among internal teams, clients, regulatory bodies, and the public to ensure clear, consistent and effective communication.
  • Technical Leadership: Lead the preparation of technical proposals and project deliverables across sectors such as federal, mining, infrastructure, oil and gas and industrial development.
  • Team Development: Mentor and support staff through coaching and training, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance


Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Technical Expertise: Strong background in environmental site assessment and/or risk assessment across sectors such as federal, mining, infrastructure, and industrial development.
  • Proposal & Project Delivery: Demonstrated success in leading technical proposals and delivering high-quality project outcomes.
  • Strategic Business Development: Proven ability to identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities and client relationships.
  • Client Relationship Management: Skilled in engaging with clients and stakeholders at all levels, including regulatory agencies and the public.
  • Communication & Representation: Comfortable representing the organization in client meetings and industry forums.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Experience guiding multidisciplinary teams, fostering professional growth, and enhancing team performance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with internal leaders and other service lines.
  • Safety Champion: Proven experience promoting a strong health and safety culture

Education and Experience

Educational Background: Degree and/or post-graduate college diploma in Civil/Environmental/Geological/Chemical Engineering, Hydrogeology, Toxicology or Environmental Sciences (Master’s degree an additional asset).
Professional Designation: P.Eng., P.Geo. designation in Ontario, and/or eligibility for QPESA and/or QPRA status in Ontario
Experience Level: 10+ years in environmental consulting or a related field, with client, project and/or staff leadership experience
Ability to obtain Secret Security clearance with the federal government is an asset
