Job summary

WSP in Ontario is seeking a Senior Environmental Planner to lead environmental assessments and shape major water, wastewater, and stormwater projects. You will drive approvals, manage multidisciplinary teams, and engage Indigenous Nations and regulators to deliver sustainable infrastructure for communities and industry.

The role offers hybrid work across Ontario with opportunities to advance environmental planning, permitting strategies, and business development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Planning, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience leading environmental assessments and approvals for water, wastewater, and stormwater projects.
• Proven success delivering Municipal Class EAs, including Master Plans and Schedule B/C projects.
• Strong knowledge of Environmental Assessment Act, Endangered Species Act, Ontario Heritage Act.
• Experience engaging Indigenous Nations, regulators, and the public using traditional and digital engagement.
• Strong project management with leadership of medium to large multidisciplinary teams.
• Business development experience including client relationships, proposals, and opportunity identification.
• Professional designations such as RPP, EP, PMP, or equivalent are assets.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental assessments and approval processes for water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects.
• Deliver Municipal Class EAs, including Master Plans and Schedule B/C projects, to support growth and renewal.
• Direct multidisciplinary teams to complete studies, assessments, and regulatory submissions.
• Design and implement engagement programs with Indigenous Nations, regulators, communities, and stakeholders.
• Provide strategic guidance on environmental planning, permitting, infrastructure servicing strategies, and feasibility studies.
• Strengthen client relationships and contribute to business development and proposals.
• Mentor and support team members through technical leadership and growth.
• Champion health, safety, sustainability, and quality throughout delivery.
