Job description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Environmental Planner - Airport Project to join our team. This position is based on-site in Mississauga. We aim to build one of the most advanced sustainable and passenger-friendly airports in the world.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manage the environmental review process for Facility Alteration Permits (FAP) to ensure compliance with all environmental standards and regulations.
  • Provide expert guidance on environmental permitting and regulatory obligations.
  • Integrate environmental requirements into program planning and design strategies.
  • Advise project teams on environmental strategies, data input, impact analysis, and risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to identify and address environmental risks proactively.
  • Coordinate with Environmental Services to consult with regulatory agencies and monitor evolving regulations.
  • Partner with Program Delivery and Technical Shared Services teams to plan, review, and validate environmental components across projects.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • University degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or a related field, with at least 6 years of relevant experience in environmental planning within the construction/development industry. Equivalent experience and education may be considered.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Professional qualification (QP designation) is an asset.
  • Typically 10+ years of professional experience in environmental planning in construction and development sectors.
  • At least 5 years of experience monitoring, tracking, and delivering environmental components, especially in large, complex programs.
  • Proven experience working with federal and provincial environmental agencies and knowledge of legislation such as IAA, CEPA, Fisheries Act.
  • Expertise in managing and reporting on contaminated sites.
  • Strong skills in environmental data management and technical report writing.
  • Ability to coordinate small teams of technical specialists and engineers.
