Job summary

Dillon Consulting Limited seeks an Environmental Engineer or Geoscientist to lead Ontario-based contaminated sites projects. Join our multidisciplinary team, drive technical leadership, and build strong client relationships in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Based at one of our Ontario offices, you’ll oversee complex ESAs, remediation strategies, and regulatory compliance, while mentoring junior staff and expanding our client base across municipalities and industry.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, or Environmental Science.
• Active licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) in Ontario.
• Qualified Person status under O. Reg. 153/04.
• 15+ years of environmental consulting experience in Ontario.
• Valid Ontario driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex environmental projects, including Phase I–III ESAs, remediation, risk assessments, and compliance monitoring.
• Serve as a Qualified Person on site assessments, technical reports, and RSC filings.
• Design, evaluate, and execute remediation programs for soil, groundwater, and soil vapour.
• Lead proposal preparation, client relationships, and key accounts.
• Travel to project sites and client meetings across Ontario as needed.

Responsibilities

Project Management and Technical Activities

• Manage complex environmental projects, including Phase I–III Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), remediation, human and ecological risk assessments, soil vapour intrusion evaluations, and compliance monitoring.
• Serve as a Qualified Person on site assessments, technical reports, and Records of Site Condition (RSC) filings.
• Design, evaluate, and execute remediation programs and risk management measures (RMMs) for impacted soil, groundwater, and soil vapour across active industrial, commercial, and brownfield properties.
• Apply deep operational knowledge of Ontario Regulation (O.Reg.) 153/04 and the Excess Soil Regulation (O.Reg. 406/19).
• Liaise with private and public clients, regulatory bodies (e.g., MECP, conservation authorities), subconsultants and subcontractors.
• Contribute to the development and coordination of client relationships and business growth.
• Drive business growth by leading proposal preparation (RFP responses), developing new and existing client relationships, and managing key accounts.
• Travel to project sites and client meetings throughout Ontario as needed.

Learning and Development

• Maintain continuous professional development, staying ahead of evolving provincial/federal regulations, environmental guidelines, and emerging contaminants.
• Drive continuous learning and mentor junior and intermediate staff in report writing, field execution and digital project delivery methodologies, developing the next generation of tech-forward leaders.
• Enhance corporate visibility through active participation in professional associations (e.g., PEO, PGEO, ONEIA) and industry committees.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, or Environmental Science.
• Active licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) in Ontario.
• Qualified Person status under O. Reg. 153/04.
• Experience with a range of client types preferred (e.g., federal government departments, private industrial clients, municipalities, first nations).
• Proven Project Management experience.
• Valid Ontario driver’s license.

Experience

• 15+ years of environmental consulting experience in Ontario.
• Comprehensive working knowledge of Ontario Regulation 153/04, Ontario Regulation 406/19 and CCME Canadian Environmental Quality Guidelines.
• Proven track record preparing and submitting Records of Site Condition (RSCs) and navigating Excess Soil Registry requirements.
• Strong technical background in conceptual site models (CSM), contaminant fate and transport, remedial action plans (RAP), and tender packages/cost estimates for remediation projects.

Compensation

$100,000 - $130,000

Dillon is including the salary range that we in good faith believe may offer for this position. It will be dependent on the successful applicant’s education, experience, and skills, in addition to internal equity and geographic region. Dillon reserves the right to pay outside of the posted range, contingent on factors unrelated to an applicant’s gender or other status protected by provincial and/or federal law.
