Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Environmental Consultant to join a fully remote team supporting projects around Kimberley and beyond. You will lead EIAs and BARs, develop EMPs, and advise on environmental compliance, while liaising with authorities and clients to ensure sustainable development.

The role requires a Master’s in a related field, at least 8 years of experience, and strong report writing and GIS skills, with independent project management in a remote setting.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in environmental consulting focusing on impact assessment and management.
• Proficiency with environmental legislation and permitting processes in the relevant region.
• Experience with GIS software for spatial analysis is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Basic Assessment Reports (BARs).
• Develop Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) and monitoring programs.
• Conduct desktop studies and literature reviews to inform assessments.
• Liaise with environmental authorities, clients, and stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Interpret environmental data and provide strategic recommendations to mitigate impacts.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and self-motivated Senior Environmental Consultant to join their fully remote team, supporting projects that may be located in or around Kimberley . This role involves leading environmental impact assessments, developing environmental management plans, and providing expert advice on environmental compliance for a variety of sectors. You will conduct desktop studies, liaise with regulatory bodies, and interpret environmental data to guide sustainable development practices. The ability to work autonomously, manage multiple projects, and communicate findings effectively through digital channels is essential, contributing to responsible development across the Northern Cape .

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Basic Assessment Reports (BARs).
• Develop Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) and monitoring programs for various projects.
• Conduct desktop studies and literature reviews to inform environmental assessments.
• Liaise with environmental authorities, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Interpret environmental data and provide strategic recommendations for mitigating negative impacts.
• Prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations for project delivery and client engagement.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related field.
