Polar Racking Inc. in Mississauga, ON is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for Solar PV mounting systems.

You will lead engineering teams from proposal through fabrication and production release, driving technical leadership, standards compliance, and lifecycle management across CAD, manufacturing, and supply chain. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 10–15+ years of progressive engineering experience, with at least 5+ years in a leadership or management role.
  • Proven experience in solar PV mounting systems, structural steel systems, or engineered construction products.
  • Strong experience overseeing FEA-based design and structural calculations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (CSA, UL, IBC/ASCE, local AHJs).
  • Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams supporting PV mounting systems and solar racking solutions.
  • Ensure Lead Engineers, Structural Leads, Design Leads, and Layout Leads follow Polar Racking engineering processes, quality standards, and best practices.
  • Oversee engineering calculations and analyses, including FEA-based structural assessments.
  • Ensure designs meet all applicable local codes, regulatory requirements, UL standards, and industry best practices.
  • Review and approve engineering documents prior to system release.
  • Establish and maintain project plans, including scope definition, risk identification, milestones, and execution oversight.
  • Manage the full project lifecycle, ensuring coordination between design, fabrication, and production, while maintaining budget and schedule targets.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project status tracking systems.
  • Oversee CAD drawings and layouts for proposals and construction plan sets.
  • Coordinate with engineering and manufacturing teams to release materials for production.
  • Partner with Supply Chain to manage production schedules and maintain vendor relationships.
  • Work closely with Sales and Engineering teams to ensure client expectations are met.
  • Provide technical support and expert guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advise on project development processes, constructability, and installation methodologies.
  • Coordinate with third-party test labs to ensure products meet UL and certification requirements.
  • Ensure projects are designed and built in accordance with regulatory codes, quality standards, and engineering best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, operational procedures, and Health & Safety programs.
  • Promote and enforce safety compliance across all assigned areas.
  • Identify and recommend improvements in product design, engineering processes, and deployment strategies.
  • Support long-term product roadmap and innovation initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Senior Manager of Engineering – Solar PV Mounting Systems is responsible for leading and developing engineering teams supporting all PV mounting systems and solar racking solutions, from proposal and detailed design through fabrication and production release.

This role provides technical leadership, ensures compliance with engineering standards and regulatory requirements, and oversees the full project lifecycle across engineering, CAD, manufacturing, supply chain, and sales. The incumbent will act as a subject matter expert in solar PV mounting systems, structural design, and applicable codes, while driving continuous improvement in product design, processes, and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
Engineering Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams supporting PV mounting systems and solar racking solutions.
