The Asset Management & Maintenance (AM&M) Systems Engineering Assurance (SEA) office is seeking a Senior Engineering Lead to serve as the systems engineering and systems assurance expert, providing technical advice to peers and senior management at all levels of the agency.

This role reports to the Senior Manager, Systems Engineering Assurance (SEA) and leads risk-based assurance, audit, and support for asset class disciplines throughout all phases of the asset lifecycle. The position is responsible for developing and ensuring compliance with technical and asset management processes, specifications, and other requirements within its assigned area.

What will I be doing?
  1. Serve as the systems engineering and systems assurance expert representative for the Asset Management & Maintenance (AM&M) organization.
  2. Lead compliance assurance and auditing initiatives for agency-performed and outsourced contracts across the asset lifecycle, collaborating closely with other divisions, external stakeholders, and regulators.
  3. Manage technical reviews of systems assurance submittals, including RAMS deliverables and engineering safety assurance cases, ensuring compliance with agency and regulatory standards.
  4. Apply knowledge of System Engineering (SE) and Railway Systems to ensure appropriate technical and management processes are implemented in projects.
  5. Identify and incorporate requirements from technical disciplines and stakeholders into project plans and deliverables, including safety-in-design, RAMS, and other engineering considerations.
  6. Review, approve, or reject deviations to SEA standards and technical requirements, ensuring compliance with agency processes.
  7. Support SEA activities, including compliance audits and developing corrective actions to ensure adherence to standards.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
  1. Degree in Engineering and experience in the rail sector or related industry, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  2. Experience in Railway Systems or related engineering disciplines, including systems assurance, RAMS, design, testing, commissioning, verification, validation, operations, and maintenance.
  3. P. Eng. designation or C.E.T. certification is an asset.
  4. Knowledge of industry standards such as BS EN 50126, ISO 15288, INCOSE, and CMREA is an asset.
  5. Ability to deploy project management principles, including budget and schedule controls, progress monitoring, and reporting.
  6. Proficiency in technical management practices like planning, configuration management, quality management, risk management, and technical reviews.
  7. Experience in vendor management, including contract negotiation and administration.
  8. Subject matter expertise in the relevant asset class or systemwide functions, with leadership capability to develop others and manage contracts and MOUs.
