Senior Engineer - Transportation Planning & Traffic Engineering - ( 250001TO )

Your Opportunity

We are currently seeking applications for a Senior Engineer in our Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering (TPTE) group, in our Calgary, AB office.

This individual will work closely with our Alberta TPTE Team Lead to deliver projects across Alberta, including traffic analysis, functional/concept planning & design, and active transportation planning & design. The Senior Engineer will lead a small team of Junior staff to deliver projects and develop new business in the Calgary region.

This opportunity is ideal for a motivated individual who is a self-starter, passionate about working with people and has a thorough understanding of Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technical staff to ensure projects’ needs are met in a timely and effective manner

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key clients including municipal/provincial agencies and private developers, as well as supporting cross-discipline strategic pursuits

  • Oversee and complete Transportation Impact Assessments for a variety of small and large projects, including traffic analysis using various software platforms

  • Functional and conceptual planning/design for urban and rural roadways

  • Planning and design of complete streets and active modes infrastructure

  • Writing and editing technical reports and engineering studies

  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams on major transportation projects

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to lead, motivate, and mentor a team

  • Strong background in transportation planning and traffic analysis methodology and standards

  • Excellent written/verbal communication and strong people skills

  • Business development and marketing skills

  • Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Experienced with traffic analysis software such as Synchro, SIDRA, HCM, VISSIM, etc.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer

  • A minimum of 8 years of work experience in the field of transportation engineering

  • Experience in the Alberta market is an asset

Position will primarily work in an office setting (with a hybrid work environment possible) and may require some occasional field work.
