Position Overview

RVA is seeking a Senior Engineer to join our Transportation team. This position can be based out of our Toronto, Halton, Niagara, or London office.

Duties :

  • Lead preliminary and final designs for major road infrastructure projects, including stormwater management, utility relocation, and property requirements.
  • Develop designs satisfying approval agencies, including conservation authorities, MNRF, and MECP.
  • Prepare design drawings using Civil3D and InRoads.
  • Develop tender documents, reports, and specifications.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external subconsultants to meet project deliverables.
  • Ensure design quality aligns with TAC / MTO standards, client requirements, and RVA’s Quality Management system.
  • Resolve complex construction issues related to constructability, staging, and commissioning.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and Microstation platforms.
  • Mentor junior staff and communicate design directions clearly.
  • Participate in team and client review meetings.

Qualifications :

  • University Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 10+ years of experience in transportation project design, including quantities and contract specifications.
  • Active P.Eng designation in Ontario.
  • Proficiency in transportation and municipal design.
  • Experience with grade separations, HOV / BRT lanes, transit facilities, and stormwater management.
  • Experience with rail infrastructure projects and familiarity with Metrolinx, CN, CP, and AREMA guidelines is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Railway Operating Rules and Track Inspection Guidelines is an asset.
  • Practical knowledge of construction sequencing and project management.
  • Experience with Civil 3D and / or InRoads.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
