Job summary

British Columbia Rapid Transit Company Ltd. (BCRTC) invites an experienced senior engineer to join our on-site team supporting Metro Vancouver's Expo and Millennium Lines.

You will lead engineering activities for rolling stock and rail infrastructure, ensuring safety, reliability and timely project delivery. The role requires a university degree in engineering with a PE designation or eligibility and at least eight years of senior-level experience in transit.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree in a relevant discipline with PE designation or eligibility.
  • Eight years of senior-level engineering experience, preferably in transit.
  • Experience with Rolling Stock or Rail Infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee engineering activities for rolling stock and rail infrastructure.
  • Prepare technical reports, standards, procedures, specifications, risk assessments, and drawings.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve consensus on projects.
  • Balance multiple, concurrent activities and manage project reporting.

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

The competencies of this position would be acquired through completion of University degree in Engineering on a required discipline, including a Professional Engineering Designation or eligibility to be registered with EGBC, plus eight (8) years of senior level engineering experience, preferably within transit and a Rolling Stock or Rail Infrastructure environment.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Advanced knowledge on the principles, theories, and practices of the designated engineering discipline

Advanced knowledge on relevant standards, legislation, acts and regulatory requirements pertaining to the rail industry.

Working knowledge of railway operation and maintenance practices, including configuration control.

Advanced analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, to resolve critical and high impact technical issues.

Advanced skill in creating technical reports, standards, procedures, specifications, method statements, risk assessments, FMECA, schematic and or technical drawings.

Solid knowledge of the principles, theories, concepts and practices of project management and project reporting.

Solid time management skills to balance and coordinate effort across multiple, concurrent activities.

Solid communication skills and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders, with the ability to achieve consensus between groups.

Interview Process:

Candidates selected to advance will participate in a two-stage interview process consisting of a behavioural and technical interview, followed by a presentation showcasing a significant systems engineering project, technical initiative, or process improvement they have led or contributed to. Asset Qualification: Experience mentoring, coaching, or developing junior engineers is considered an asset.

This position works predominately on-site.

Rate of Pay

The salary for this position ranges from $100,080 - $150,120 per annum. Actual salary offered will be based on education, experience, skills, and qualifications as they relate to the role.
