Job Description

We are looking for Engineers who are passionate about working in agile delivery environments and resolving the challenges of building robust and scalable data systems aligned to enterprise data strategy.

As Senior Data Engineer you will be part of a team that leads the design and implementation of CPP Investments' data platform to support the strategic data needs related to Subledgers, ABOR (account booking of records) and support enterprise reporting needs including datamarts, reporting and business intelligence. You will build data capabilities and support a wide range of data flows and usecases to advance the Fund’s data-driven investment decisioning and deliver transformational programs.

Through close partnership with investment professionals, you will see firsthand how your contribution is delivering long-term value to the CPP Fund for the benefit of 20 million CPP contributors and beneficiaries. You are encouraged to bring an entrepreneurial, innovative mindset to tackle complex business requirements in the investment industry.

Qualifications

• University degree in Engineering or Computer Science preferred.
• Experience with AWS Data & Analytics, Cloud data platforms, data warehouse, business intelligence, data lakes and analytics products
• Experience working with database query languages and cloud data warehouses / MPP databases (Redshift / Spectrum, Snowflake, etc)
• Experience with batch job scheduling, leveraging Apache Airflow, AWS EMR, PySpark, YARN, EKS, S3, HDFS, AWS Athena, AWS Glue, Lakeformation, AWS Step Functions
• Experience building data exploratory interfaces using Notebooks (JupyterHub / Lab, Enterprise Gateway, matplotlib, Plotly / Dash, etc.) with Spark Integration using Livy, Sparkmagic
• Experience in data modeling, data architecture, data engineering, data analysis and familiarity with ETL tools, data warehousing & big data architecture and business intelligence reporting / analytics.
• Must have experience in data modeling, data visualization design and development including legacy ETL and modern ELT constructs and BI tools like Tableau, QlikView etc.
• Knowledge of cloud-native approaches to build fast, flexible, and cost-effective data applications on any data lake, open source column oriented DBMS and / or big data OLAP engines for analytical processing (like Clickhouse, Apache Kylin, Apache Pinot, etc.)
• Experience with DataOps and various continuous delivery practices to deploy, support and operate data pipelines
• Ability to work in an entrepreneurial environment and be a self-starter.
• Demonstrated ability to easily deal with both abstract and concrete concepts and be able to reconcile them for the appropriate audience and context preferred
• Quickly understand organizational dynamics and management priorities, and to be able to work effectively in a fast paced, results driven company.
• Demonstrate strong facilitation, negotiation, interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills.
• Interests in the financial industry.
• Exemplify CPP Investments' Guiding Principles of Integrity, Partnership and High Performance.
