Job Description Summary
Senior Engineer - Simulation Assisted Engineering (SAE) works within the Plant Integration Engineering team by enabling LEAN integrated plant design (IPD) using modern digital engineering tools and techniques. SAE is a collaborative, cross-disciplinary, systems engineering approach to complex IPD, analysis, and optimization. SAE is based on the use of a modern, physics and mathematics, digital engineering modeling and simulation software toolkit. Focus is on technical risk, engineering labor, and schedule duration reduction during first of a kind (FOAK) plant design.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate in a cross-functional environment with Systems, Instrumentation & Controls, and Human Factors Engineering to ensure successful deployment, implementation, and lifecycle management of the multi-organization and multi-geographic SAE environment.
  2. Assist in maintaining a singular master plant simulation model in the SAE environment, ensuring requirements and configuration management are updated and baselined as necessary.
  3. Develop and edit system models in an integrated simulation environment.
  4. Collaborate with simulation software suppliers and customers to prepare plans, procedures, and reports, and perform factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) for simulators, manage Discrepancy Reports (DR), enhancement requests, technical oversight issues, and training needs.
  5. Prepare simulator documentation with P. Eng Seal applicability.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Nuclear, Systems, Physics, Chemistry, or equivalent 4-year technical degree.
  2. 8 years of experience in simulation using modern physics, mathematics, and software-based modeling tools for design, analysis, or training involving nuclear reactor thermal hydraulics, plant process fluidic and mechanical systems, electrical, instrumentation, control, and monitoring systems.
  3. P. Eng designation in Ontario.

Desired Qualifications:

  1. Master of Science in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Nuclear, Systems, Physics, Chemistry.
  2. Experience developing high-fidelity engineering simulators or FSS integrated with a DCS platform via virtual controllers or emulation.
  3. Experience performing Factory Acceptance Testing and Site Acceptance Testing on plant simulators.
  4. Ability to test, troubleshoot, and resolve discrepancies/issues.
  5. Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license or certification.

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Strong preference for candidates who can work onsite in Markham two days a week.
