Job summary

AtkinsRéalis Canada Inc. is seeking a Senior Engineer, Municipal Wastewater and Water Treatment in Ontario. You will manage municipal relationships in the GTA while delivering projects as Project Manager or Discipline Lead, handling scope, budget, risk and schedules, and preparing technical documentation.

The role requires a P.Eng. in Ontario, 15+ years in municipal water/wastewater, and strong BD skills. You will mentor teams and coordinate across offices in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Master’s in Hydraulics/Hydrology is an asset.
  • P.Eng. license in Ontario is required.
  • Minimum 15 years of municipal water/wastewater experience.
  • Proven design/delivery experience for pumping stations and water/wastewater facilities.
  • Strong business development and client relationship skills.
  • Knowledge of GTA design standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

Your role

The Senior Engineer, Municipal Wastewater and Water Treatment will report to the Manager water et waste water. The candidate will have dual responsibility: developing and maintaining business relationships with municipalities in the Vancouver region, while also contributing to project delivery, either as a Project Manager or as a Discipline Lead.

Project delivery: Either serve as Project Manager who will be responsible to: Define scope. Manage budget, risk and schedule. Multidisciplinary coordination.

Or as a discipline lead who will be responsible to: Prepare technical documentation for the execution of projects, including but not limited to: equipment specifications, design criteria, P&IDs. Development and management procurement packages. Mentoring team members.

Business relation: Prepare and/or contribute to the preparation of engineering effort estimates, proposals, budgets, and project execution plans. Support proposal development, including technical writing, pricing strategies, and interview presentations. Prepare and deliver presentations, workshops, and technical discussions with senior stakeholders.

About you
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Master’s degree in Applied Hydraulics or Hydrology (an asset).
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario.
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience.
  • Municipal experience, working water, wastewater, and utility infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and delivery of large pumping stations, water treatment plants, wastewater treatment facilities, or related municipal infrastructure.
  • Proven business development experience, including identifying opportunities, developing pursuits, and converting leads into projects.
  • Knowledge of GTA design standards, procurement processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to develop and execute account strategies for key municipal and infrastructure clients.
  • Ability to work effectively with geographically distributed teams and coordinate resources across multiple offices.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a seller-doer mentality, balancing client development responsibilities with technical project execution.
  • Strong communication and consulting skills, with the ability to understand client business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Existing network of municipal contacts within GTA region and municipalities, First Nations, utilities, and related agencies is considered a strong asset.
  • Strong networking and relationship-building capabilities within the GTA and surrounding municipal and utility sector.

Expected compensation for this role is between $ 117,200 and $ 161,200 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, location, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
